We will discuss modes of communication and how to effectively communicate in person, by phone and by email. We will talk about understanding the other person: communication principles, communication styles and reading between the lines. Finally, we will speak about influencing and being influenced: influencing strategies, strategies for presentations, making requests, declining requests, and mistakes in communication. By the end of the course, you will be able to communicate effectively in a variety of modes, make connections to your colleagues, and understand how to influence others and respond to influence.
