I enjoyed taking this course. It is helping me to gain insight into my thinking traps and how I can reevaluate my beliefs about situations so I can view things that happen in a more positive way. This helps me to be more resilient and happier. I have reinforced my belief that gratitude is important to appreciate what I do have and to not concern myself with what I don't have or what others have that I might not. I have learned to be more mindful about what is happening in my environment and about what thoughts I am choosing to think about the things that are happening or have happened to me. This helps me to be less judgmental about people and situations and to be more relaxed and compassionate to myself and others.

A very helpful course which taps into topics like gratitude and optimism and offers useful tips and solutions as how to improve your well being and relationships through self awareness. I enjoyed the style of delivery as it talks about the theory and also shares the insights and experiences of guest speakers to elaborate on them. The course has also given me a new perspective on how to zoom out and see situations and circumstances on a wider scale without falling into the traps that I've long been accustomed to. Resiliency isn't only reflected through perseverance, but also through flexibility and mental agility; something new I've learned.

Provided great examples and explanations in the videos, relevant coursework and materials, and overall really helped me understand resilience skills, positive emotions like gratitude, science behind gratitude and optimism, and character strengths! What is great about this course is that it really pushed me to be more self-aware of my tendencies and what I can do to improve my cognitive processes/strengthen meaningful relationships with my loved ones. I also enjoyed how I could reflect on real-life experiences and put together a "program" for myself about the skills that I can use to combat negative thoughts/emotions.

This was an excellent course. First of all, I loved Karen's style of presentation which was well-paced and relaxed but at the same time packed a load of practical knowledge and understanding. The role-play demonstrations and short tasks helped reinforce the key ideas. I was aware of some the subject matter already but here it was presented in such a structured and practical way that is immediately useable. It really helped me to put some of my pre-existing knowledge into useful practice. I would recommend this course to everyone.
One minor point. I would have liked the quizzes to have been a bit longer.

This course was tremendously helpful during a challenging time in our country's history and in my professional & personal life. I was able to implement the knowledge gained almost immediately. It also helped build my optimism,gratitude & joy. Dr. Reivich's delivery and candor was refreshing and kept me engaged.
I did regret that there did not appear to be many students responding to each other in the forums. It was a pleasure to see people writing from around the world. And it would be great to have the chance to get CEU's for the course if we paid a small fee.

This is a comprehensive overview of the science behind positive psychology, delivered in user-friendly, digestible, short videos. This really shed some light on a few tricky areas of my life, gave me new perspective on some of my own behaviors, how my own character strengths serve me and why my strengths can also sometimes act as a hindrance. Dr Karen was very engaging . Her strengths were that she integrated personal testimonies to make the information she was teaching provide deeper clarity. In addition she integrated role playing to demonstrate the concepts she was emphasizing in her lessons. She was emphatic, and clear in teaching every point. When I first enrolled for this course, I thought I knew some of this resilience stuff already and was good at most of it - I meant for it to be just a refresher. Once I started I actually couldn't stop! I was fascinated by the scientific approach that the course took, with lots of academic evidence as well as real-life examples, many of which were the instructor's own. The course was also very well structured with a clear flow of logic, and yet each module on its own delivers unique value. I would highly recommend this course to others, whichever stage they may be at in their life.

Dr. Reivich built a very powerful and especially relevant given these times class, delivering it in an interesting, easy to understand way, and designing it so it was realistic to complete in a reasonable time frame. I especially appreciated that she shared personal insights and stories as examples, which added a layer of authenticity. The class introduced me to two books on the subject (Dr. Reivich's and Dr. Fredrickson's) which I read in parallel. The course has without a doubt improved my interpersonal relationships skills. I didn't realize how big a joy killer I was until my participation in the course. I learned some very useful skills that I can use in my psychotherapy practice as well as in my own life. I am planning to learn more about the skill of optimism and how it can help us during uncertain and challenging times. Particularly, I was interested in the practice of finding the "silver lining" or opportunity in a difficult situation. This course is really useful. We can learn to be an optimist by knowing why and how we can become a pessimist. Many lessons we can get in experiences from many experts about thinking traps, catastrophizing, other challenges and how they overcome those things. Great practical application of research for any one to learn to grow their resilience.
