Greetings to all. In this class, we are going to learn about the components in SketchUp. As we know, turning objects into components benefits while modeling. It saves time on drawing, and reduces the size of a SketchUp file. We will learn what's component, what's the difference between components and group, how to get it from online database and how to manage it. Let's get started. Component is a special function which is superficially like a group. We get to enter these groups in other components into a components just like making a group, but we can also do more than that. As we mentioned in previous videos, a group belongs to a certain file and can appear all of it. They do not, they're all coexistent. When we copy a group, the new one is independent of the old, and the size of the file will increase as well. However, it's not the case when we turn objects into components. Unlike groups that can only be in one file, we can import components into other files as we want. Because when an object is turned into a component, it will be like a file. We can name the components, or assign attributes in a coexistence to it, and save as an independent file. What's even better when we insert a components, we seem like copy a group. The size of the file will not increase at all. But if we added one of the component other in the same file will be altered as well. As we can import components from one file to another, we can also share components we created, and then use components to auto-create its own line. We can acquire components from a 3D Warehouse, or search the component we need on the Internet. 3D Warehouse is a database collected by SketchUp. As long as the component we found is SKP file, we will be able to import it into SketchUp. All SketchUp users can upload and download components within 3D house. Now, let's try to get a component into SketchUp. We click on File, and select 3D Warehouse and Get Model. And there is the 3D Warehouse we know, search the objects we need in English. If we find a component we want, we just click on the photo, information of the components will be listed there including file size, materials, and downloads. If we decide to download this, we click on the Download button and there will be a window asking, load this directly into SketchUp model? If we select Yes, the component will appear in our model. We can place this wherever you want. If we select No, the component will be loaded into our old database of components, and then we will find it in our component window. Once we master modeling, we can also share components we've created with other SketchUp users, and enrich the 3D Warehouse. Just like getting components from the 3D Warehouse, we click on File, 3D Warehouse, and then Share Models. Then, we can write about the components, and share this with artists. Please remember that, if we want to share one object in 3D Warehouse, we must turn this object into components instead of group. In module five, we will learn how to create Windows and those components by ourselves. When we complete an object, we will select all [inaudible] and click on right mouse button, select Make Component. The input information page and adjust setting such as None, Cutting Opening and Setting Components Axes. We should notice the Setting Component Axes is to define the origin of the component. Only reserve components the origin will be the points which define the position. If we need to edit components, we should double click on it, and click right mouse button on it, and then select Edit Component. We can change the attributes of the entity's units, just like adding groups. However, we must be cautious about that as same components in the file will be altered as well. There are two default components libraries set in SketchUp, Components Sampler and a Dynamic Component Trainer. Of course, we can develop a new folder by ourselves. For example, if you work at a construction company, we might need to manage a pile of components. Thus, we could add a component library to store all kinds of windows. In general, when we turn our object into a component, it will be stored in the components temporary folder. Thus, if we want to add a component into the file we are working on, we can click on select components temporary and then, the component we created. Today, we learned about the concept of components. Now, we know it very well. It simplified the modeling process and avoid troubles. We will use this in the following steps of modeling, and we will master the skill gradually, but let's rest a bit. Goodbye.
