Welcome to the 4.0 Roadmap touchpoint for the DMD specialization. Nearly one third of your roadmap project is now complete. Your tasks included selecting, entitling your project, finalizing the template for your project charter, updating your charter with the objectives, and compiling a list of sources to help you find a mentor or a team of mentors. If you haven't completed these steps, please refer to the lessons in previous courses and complete those steps before moving on. Next, you will complete and document a self assessment. Self-assessments, also known as self-evaluations, are exercises that may influence how you execute tasks and projects. They provide insight into your strengths and weaknesses. Once recognized, you may choose to implement a strategy to transform weaker qualities into stronger ones. Self-assessments can also help you identify gaps that, unless closed, may hinder your ability to perform a particular task. Self assessments may be conducted a number of ways. However, in this lesson we suggest you use a common tool referred to as SWOT. SWOT is the acronym for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. A SWOT analysis often looks like this. Where the strengths and weaknesses blocks include internal factors. Those are unique to you. And the blocks of opportunities and threats include external factors such as a job posting, a new software release, regulations and procedures. Once conducted, a SWOT analysis will begin to reveal What positive attributes you may want to leverage. It will also begin to reveal weaknesses you may wish to tackle or threats you may need to overcome. The output of a SWOT analysis is a list of action items to focus on as you transition from a current to a future state. When completed, the analysis provides personalized steps to achieve something you want. Your assignment is to conduct a SWOT self assessment and reflect on the results as they relate to your project objectives. By the time you enroll in the next course, update your project charter with one to three action items for you to complete Within an established time period, but leverages your strengths to obtain a prospective opportunity. Additionally, list at least one action item to mitigate or reduce the risk of a threat adversely impacting you as a result of one or more of your weaknesses. Please refer to the resource section to help you get started. Also, use the discussion forum to share your ideas. Have fun and I'll see you in the next course of the DMD Specialization.
