Welcome to module three, Digital Trends. In the first module, we have described the fundamental laws behind the recent progress in digital technologies. And we have seen how those laws have impacted individual, businesses, and whole industry. Then, in the previous module, Mike has done a deep dive in the underlying economics of digital transformation. And you saw that the mechanics of disruption aren't new. In this module, we want to go deeper on a narrower set of technology trends we saw in the most recent years. We have selected seven of them, the ones that we think have the strongest impact on the business environment. We will of course start with Big Data and see how it can create value for the businesses that use it right. Related to it, we'll discuss the Shift to the Cloud, and opportunities for companies to outsource different parts of their technology stack or even their business processes. Then we'll introduce two other technologies that are changing our physical world. First, the Internet of Things with some interesting use cases it is enabling. Next, we'll take a closer look at Additive Manufacturing and the way it's changing the face of production. After that, we'll run through some scary Cyber Security scenario. Beyond scaring you, I want us to have a good appreciation of the threats we face everyday and what businesses can and should do about it. We'll end with two more recent trends. Artificial Intelligence, where we will differentiate hype from reality. And last but not least, Blockchain and the mix of hope and uncertainty associated with it. For each of those trends, we'll answer a set of questions. Why is this trend important? How can we define it and understand its building blocks? What is its actual or expected business impact? And to conclude, what are the challenges it raises for us in the coming years as citizens and as business managers? Sonya and I will talk about each one of the trends individually. We'll wrap it up, and show you how they build upon each other in popular applications like self-driving car, augmented reality, all the new generation of Industry 4.0 factories. Excited? Let's get started.
