Hi, I'm James Green with the University of Maryland. I'm excited to share one of our newest Coursera courses with you; Developing Innovative Ideas for Product Leaders. Within this course, we start by really understanding what does it take to develop the skills for identifying and analyzing an entrepreneurial idea? An idea for a new product, an idea for a new service, an idea for a new version or an expanded feature set for existing products or services. From there, we begin to develop your entrepreneurial thinking skills of helping you understand how an entrepreneurial mindset, entrepreneurial motivations, and entrepreneurial behaviors can fit into a product leadership mindset. From there, we begin to understand elements of seeing entrepreneurially. What does it take to really understand how your industry is emerging? How it's evolving? What macroeconomic factors are in play and how should you think about competition as a product leader? Lastly, we bring it into action, where we explore some concepts of value innovation and opportunity identification that will help you translate somebody's early elements of thinking and seeing entrepreneurially, to acting entrepreneurially. Now, this course is designed for product leaders in many different areas or even aspiring product leaders. Perhaps you're already involved in product management or want to be involved in product management, this is a great course for that or if you're involved in design, development, management, analyst, consulting, even engineering, all of those can be valuable starting points for building the skills that we're going to develop in our course. Now, the framework that we use for our course is something called the Opportunity Analysis Canvas. This is a framework that I developed some years ago and we've been applying it to entrepreneurship, to corporate innovation, and now to product leadership. It's really designed as three parts. The 1st part, when we talked about entrepreneurial thinking, we're going to explore each of these three elements to help you understand first what they mean, why they're important for product leaders, and how they apply to you, as well as how you can enhance and improve these various aspects within your own thinking. The 2nd phase of the course begins to look at the industries. Begins to look at the markets that your product is going to compete within, begins to look at customers, and also analyzes competition. Then in the 3rd phase of the course, that acting element is when we begin to look at value innovation, as well as opportunity identification. Now, you can do this all in one of two ways. There is an audit track where you can develop some understanding of the content, the tools and the techniques for free that's invited. By all means, that's a great place to join. Alternatively, if you're interested in earning a certificate, there is an opportunity to do that, as well. For individuals on the certificate track, you have access to the quizzes, further assessments, some enhanced assignments and that will also give you the opportunity to earn that credential that you can share on your resume, that you can post in LinkedIn and use it in that context, as well. Now, our course is the 1st of five courses within Coursera's Product Ideation, Design, and Management Specialization. You have the opportunity to do one course or you have the opportunity to do the whole series. I invite you to get started one with us, whether you're interested in doing one course or even the whole specialization, this is the right place to start. I invite you to come onto Coursera if you're not already here, and go ahead and sign up and get started. Thank you.
