Hi, my name is Waleed Mir and I'm a Microsoft technical trainer. Today, I'm going to talk to you about Azure Data Fundamentals. In my opinion, the main impact cloud data services has had on businesses, over the last number of years, is that it has revolutionized traditional data solutions. Cloud Data Solutions are highly available and more accessible to users and businesses of all sizes. This is because you pay for what you use and the customers don't need to pay for all the hardware and software facilities or extensive configuration and maintenance of full technology stack to run. Hence, the cloud-based data solutions cost less, they are more scalable, more reliable, more secure. This helps businesses adapt to changes quickly or meet their needs, as the demand changes. Cloud-based data services has had great impact on application development and Data Analytics. Cloud is changing the way applications are designed, including how the data is processed and stored. For example, instead of a single general-purpose database, that handles all of solutions data, Polyglot Persistent Solutions use multiple, specialized data stores, each optimized to provide specific capability. As a result, the perspective on the data in a solution changes. There are no longer multiple layers of business logic that needs to read and write to a single data layer. Instead, solutions are designed around data pipelines. That describes how the data flows through a solution, where it is processed, where it is stored, and how it is consumed by the next component in a pipeline. Having this data available in the cloud makes it easier for businesses, to apply analytics that can help them make informed decisions with speed and simplicity. These insights from all your data can be derived more efficiently, with a limitless analytics service that brings together data warehousing and big Data Analytics. One of my favorite cloud data services in Azure is Cosmos DB. With changes to data and application development in today's world, we require services that are highly responsive and always available. Azure Cosmos DB, is fully managed, no SQL database service, that has less than 10 millisecond response time and guarantees speed at any scale. It provides instant scalability, business continuity, which is assured with SLA-backed availability and enterprise-grade security. With features like multi-region writes, data distribution globally, and real-time access with fast read and write, it can be considered for a solution to a number of scenarios. For example, IoT, smart devices or sensors across ocean, desert, or jungle, monitoring temperature change every minute. Or it could be collecting the live game data from players across the globe. It surely is an amazing service, that can be key component to your solution with endless possibilities. To begin a career in data storage or data management, some background knowledge of databases is useful. However, it is not necessary. DP900 Data Fundamental course carries all the fundamental concepts of data, along with services and features that are available in Azure. To prepare for a career in Data Analytics, you can start your journey with DP900 Azure Data Fundamentals course, which covers basic concepts, tools, and technologies that can be used in Azure to understand, Modern Data Warehouse and Data Analytics. You can then progress onto Associate level certifications, for Data Analytics. To help people in their career path in Cloud Data Services, Microsoft has a number of pathways you can choose from, like Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Database Administrator, and Data Fundamentals. You can find all the study materials on Microsoft Learn Path website and additional documentation on features and services are available on docs.microsoft.com.
