Welcome back to our course on fintech foundations, an overview In this module, we're going to be talking about the applications of FinTech You could think of it as the fin of fintech, or the finance market opportunities What are people doing, what are startups doing? What are new business opportunities, what are the apps that are being created? What are the new business models, or firms, startups, that are being created? We're going to talk about this in terms of six different perspectives or categories of business startups or opportunities We're going to talk about lending and personal finance, so the consumer side of banking, credit cards, personal finance, loans And so, what's the consumer's perspective of borrowing in this fintech world and how's that different? We're going to talk about financing of businesses, so borrowing is a business But also, raising capital, crowd funding investing in terms of startups and opportunities, and crowd funding, crowd sourcing, business financing And sort of the business side of fintech opportunities and new ways to think about business finance We're going to talk about payments and retail transactions the competitors to Visa and MasterCard and American Express The new startups, the Apple Pay, the Alipay, the Wechat wallet and payment systems Or PayPal has a relatively old, but still fintech kind of innovative new application of a different way to think about finance and opportunities So we're going to look at payments and retail transactions as a different view of FinTech. And how that's becoming a very populated space in FinTech markets. We're going to look at equity and trading and investments which includes things like algo-trading, or other types of AI based or innovative based trading systems and platforms Or new ways of trading stocks, the many, many different startups in that space. Any discussion of fintech would be incomplete without a discussion of cryptocurrencies So we're going to look at cryptocurrencies and their implications for financial services And what's going on with ICOs and different kinds of cryptocurrencies and this kind of market opportunity More than Bitcoin, but a world of cryptocurrencies and activities going on there Then finally, we're going to look at fintech from the perspective of infrastructure, tools, logistics, support What else is going on that is not necessarily consumer-based, or business finance, or stock trading, or cryptocurrencies But is happening somewhat in the background, but still powerful infrastructure, tools, capabilities, logistics support, etc in this fintech world So that's it, we look forward to see you in our six modules, or six videos in this series, talking about market opportunities in FinTech [MUSIC]
