This lecture will take you through how to do a computer-assisted personal interview on a tablet. Here we will be talking specifically about the radar coverage survey, but some principles may apply generally to ODK surveys on tablets. We will cover how to fill a blank form, navigate the form on the tablet, and how to deal with common technical issues. To fill a blank form, first select the ODK collect app on your Android tablet. This opens a main menu where you will click ''Fill blank form'' then select the form you want to fill out. Once you have selected the coverage core data set form, you will be prompted to select the interviewer name, interviewer number, and supervisor from the drop-down menus. Many fields are not optional. Leaving them blank will result in an error message, ''Sorry this response is required.'' This means you must fill in the field in red before proceeding. Some fields have logic which will crosscheck a response with another field. For example, interviewer name and interviewer number must match. A mismatch between these fields will result in an error message, ''Sorry this response is invalid'' which means you must reconcile the field in red before proceeding. After entering interviewer and supervisor information, you will correctly and to the administrative ID variables on a screen that looks like this. These variables will uniquely identify the household and serve as the reference for everything you enter while doing a particular interview. It is very important that you enter each of these numbers exactly as they are assigned to you. Once you have read the consent script and have obtained informed consent, select household member present and give consent. Or if another response is applicable, select the one that applies. After you complete the household listing for the first person in the household, you will be given the option to add another person, click ''Add'' when prompted. Add list of household members. It is very important to correctly fill in the household listing by identifying all usual members of the household and any visitors of the household who slept there last night. All subsequent questionnaires are dependent upon correctly identifying all members of the household in the household listing. If you accidentally add a household member, delete the entry. First, click on any field of the household listing information for two seconds, and then select ''Remove group'' and then confirm by selecting ''Remove group'' a second time. An interview is complete when no callbacks are needed and when the overall status is complete. Once complete, you will come to a screen that additionally verifies that the form is complete after being reviewed by the supervisor or team leader at the end of the data collection day. Once you check this box, your form will be moved out of the edit saved form folder and into these send finalized form folder. This means you will no longer be able to edit the form. When you want to put your completed forms which had been reviewed by a supervisor or team leader and marked as final onto the server click ''Send Finalized Form'' on the main menu and select the forms you want to send. Then click ''Send Selected''. A message indicating the form was received by the server will appear. Click ''Okay'', swipe left to move forward to the next page. Swipe right to move back to the previous page. If you wish to get an overview of your progress, edit previously entered information, or move to a different questionnaire you can click the arrow and dot icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Or if you select ''Edit Saved Form'' from the main menu to reload a household for a callback for example, and then click ''Characteristics of the household'' either way you will come to the screen on the far right. Scroll to the relevant section that you want to move to. For example, if a woman wants to fill out her questionnaire before you have finished the household questionnaire, provided the household listing is complete, you can move directly to that woman's questionnaire by clicking on the section in the overview. If you are unable to complete an interview, go to the overview page and click ''Go To End''. If the questionnaire is not complete, uncheck the box next to mark form as finalized, and click ''Save form'' and exit, note the household ID and return to this form by clicking ''Edit saved form'' from the main menu when you return to this household to do the callback. If there are multiple versions of an ODK form on your tablet and you edit saved form, you will get an error message telling you that you have two different forms with the same form ID and version. Ask your supervisor or team leader to confirm which version of the survey you should be using for your interview. Then select ''Delete Saved Form'' from the main menu and go to the blank forums tab. Check the form to be deleted and select, ''Delete Selected'' at the bottom of the screen. Confirm that this is what you want to do by selecting ''Delete Forms'' on the pop-up message. To change the language of the ODK form, click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner and select ''Change Language''. Then choose the desired language among the options. This will change the language in the form itself. You can change the language which Android uses. If you swipe down from the top of the tablet and then select the settings. If you click ''General management'' and then ''Language and input'' and then ''Language'', you can set any language as the default. This will change the Android messages and keyboard. To turn autocorrect on or off, swipe down from the top of the tablet and then select the ''Settings''. Click ''General management'', and then ''Language and input''. Click ''Samsung keyboard'' and then tap ''Smart typing'', toggle predictive text to activate or deactivate autocorrect. Remember to save your work as you go by clicking on the disk in the upper right-hand corner. The Internet is required for the points at which the Android tablet interacts with the server. This happens when you get the initial form or an update to the form through ''Get Blank Form'', and again when you use ''Send Finalized Form'' to get the completed forms back to the server. You will also need Internet to get the completed forms from the server for analysis. But otherwise, the radar coverage survey works offline.
