[MUSIC] Welcome to the inACOL Self-Assessment. This self-assessment is a 63-item questionnaire. While it is long, it's really valuable in helping you identify your strengths and weaknesses in K-12 online teaching. This self-assessment is based on inACOL standards for quality online teaching. We want you to make an honest self-assessment without affecting your final grade in this course. For that reason, you get to take this-self assessment outside of the Coursera system. We've provided you with two options. [SOUND] One is a PDF, and it looks like this. The other is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that looks like this. [SOUND] Let's take a look at the PDF version first. [SOUND] If you use the PDF version, you may want to print it out, but keep in mind that it's 16 pages long, and you won't be handing it in to anyone. So consider using the blank side of used paper or jot the responses down on a scrap piece of paper, numbered one through 63. On this self-assessment, notice that each statement asks you to rank your skills. If you mark absent or zero points for a skill, this means you know that you don't have the skill or perhaps you're just unfamiliar with the concepts presented in the statement. If you score a one or unsatisfactory on a statement, then you might be aware of the concept and feel you could possibly implement it with help. Or, you've tried and were not very successful. If you score yourself a two or somewhat satisfactory, this means that you're just proficient enough to know exactly where you need improvement. A score of three or satisfactory means that you feel confident enough in this skill to implement it effectively. However, you might not be ready to teach others about the skill just yet. Once you can give yourself a score of four or very satisfactory, you're confident in this skill without needing any improvements, and you're capable of teaching others about it too. Once you've scored yourself for each of the 63 statements, add up your score. Use a calculator if needed. The lowest possible score is zero, and the highest possible score is 252. Be sure to double check your math. If you use the Excel spreadsheet instead of the PDF file to take the self-assessment, we have embedded the summation formula for you, and your score will appear at the bottom, automatically. Once you have your self-assessment score, you can compare it to our inACOL assessment results page linked in the course to see how you can improve your score in the future. Not only will you take the self-assessment at the beginning of our course, you'll also take it once again at the end. We hope you'll be able to see a difference in your skills and confidence when it comes to K-12 online teaching. [MUSIC]
