[MUSIC] Welcome to our first MOOC, which is management skills for international business. My name is David James and I'm really looking forward to working with you throughout the four weeks of our MOOC. Where we'll be looking to cover quite a range of different areas under management and aspects of leadership, also. Our MOOC consist of four weeks of which this is the first. And each week has a series of objectives which will be underpinned by a whole range of different things to help you navigate through each part of your learning. So there's going to be some reading to do, there'll be various research sources that you can access. There'll be video links, there'll be quiz questions, and there'll be a scenario where you'll be looking to really test your understanding and application of key parts of your learning. The quiz questions will be primarily in week one and week three, and your scenarios will be in week two and week four. This then, is week one of our first MOOC. And we'll be looking to cover together a range of key objectives. Firstly, you'll be exploring how you can measure a manager's level of effectiveness. Our second objective is where you'll be looking to demonstrate your understanding of the key attributes of a manager. So what makes a good manager? Third, and possibly the major objective for this week is where you're looking to compare the possible differences between a leader and a manager. Very, very broad range of a research available there. Our fourth and fifth objectives in this week one is where you'll be looking to assess the levels of a manager's performance and stakeholder added value. So in other words, what difference that manager has made. And then the final objective for this first week is where you'll be looking to analyze the key stages of effective change management. Take every opportunity that you can to pause and reflect about your learning, to think about how it applies to you and your workplace, and your career or where you are. Also, you can compare and contrast your learning and apply it to a different workplace situation, so for example, people that you report to. Other managers and leaders that you've seen. Take every opportunity to think about how what you're learning applies to the real world of organizational life. Enjoy. [MUSIC]
