Well hello there everybody this is a special edition video should be considered a supplement. If you already know about Twitter, you're using Twitter or you decided you hate Twitter and you don't want to use Twitter please do not feel that you have to watch this video. This is just something I wanted to do for people who maybe are not as familiar with Twitter. Or who maybe are still making up their minds about whether or not they want to use Twitter. I have navigated to the Twitter homepage, and here you've got your sign up button and your log in button. We'll get to that a little bit later. But when you land on the Twitter homepage you will see a series of tabs. And it defaults you to the featured tab. So, these are gonna be like the big stories, big things that are going on in the world, big things that are happening on Twitter, that kind of thing. You've also got options for news, sports, music, so on and so on. Don't miss the search tab, which I have just clicked on. And you can use this search tab exactly the way that you would use a normal search engine search tab. And I'm gonna do a search for cute animals because that is just the kind of person that I am. Now again you'll see a series of tabs across the top, and you'll see that the top is actually one of those tabs. And this is gonna be like the big results for whatever your search term is. If you want to hone in and find accounts to follow, it will also match the accounts that are the best fit for your search terms. So I did cute animals, and so it's matched me up with cute animal pics, cute animals, cute animals and you can see they all have different handles. Now your user name on Twitter is called a handle and you'll notice that they all start with ats. So, @cuteanimalsbaby, @cuteanimalpic, @cuteexplosion. Yes, my heart is basically about to explode. I can't even stand this. So you can actually click on one of these accounts and then you can scroll through. And see the different tweets that this account has put out and decide if it's something that you would like to follow. And if it is, then you can easily click the follow button. Now, you have to have an account. And if you were to click on follow, it would prompt you then to either create a account or to login. I want to go back to the home page for a second. And I wanna go back to the search bar. And I showed you that you could use it simply as, like you would a regular search engine. But you'll notice in the example that they give you, this little hashmark that's there, and that's actually. The hashmark back in the day just indicated a number, but now in our modern world. It means usually a search term that you're gonna find on Twitter or some way to designate something in particular way. So I am going to put my hashtag there, and then I'm going to use the search term that I search for a lot on Twitter, and it's 3D printing. So again you'll see I have my tabs across the top, and if I go to Accounts. You will see that it's giving me the top accounts that are related to 3D printing. Again, if I were logged in I could just click follow, follow, follow. And that would give me the ability to follow and see what a lot of these folks are doing and what they think is important. Another thing that you may have noticed, I just want to point out to you, is trends. So this is usually on the left side of the page and these are trending hashtags. And some people are mixed in there and also some different ideas. So now what I wanna show you is how to get a Twitter account of your own. If you go to sign up you're gonna be prompted to give your full name, phone or email, a password, and then that will, once you click sign up, that will begin the process. And you'll have to choose your twitter handle. I, well, I'll go ahead and log in so you can see mine. And it is @kr_barker And I'm going to log in. So, this, when you log in, nope. This is a shared computer, I do not wanna save my password. So it logs me into and sends me to my twitter feed. So these are the results that I am seeing. Based on the accounts that I follow. So if you want to see, one of the things that I like that I think is very important for branding for using Twitter, is to go to your profile. Here you have the opportunity to do a couple of things. You get to choose a cover photo which, again, remember all of this has to do with promoting your brand. Now I love nature, is there anything particularly related to my brand about these birch trees with the beautiful sun behind them? Probably not. But, I love birch trees, and I love nature, and I fell in love with that and I wanted to use it as my cover photo. You also have the opportunity to have a photo of yourself, and we've talked about this before. And I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to have a head shot done by a professional photographer. They offered it to everybody in the health system and it was a great opportunity. I hate being photographed, but I really needed a good quality professional photograph. Then you have the opportunity to write a little bio about yourself just to give people an idea about you, and this doesn't have to be purely professional. If your brand is a little more relaxed, such as mine is, then I don't mind telling people that I love the show Firefly. That I love tea. That I love cashmere. All kinds of things about myself. I don't mind doing that, but what you're getting here is the idea that I work with emerging technology. And health care and that's really important. You have the option to put your location and to link to another account that you have. This is my professional blog and if you link on that, you will see that. And you can also see, how many tweets I've done. How many people I'm following. How many followers I have. You can see a list of things that I've favorited and any lists that I've created. It also gives you the opportunity to see your stuff in different ways. So you can scroll down and see things that I have either tweeted or retweeted, and then also the opportunity to see photos and videos. So, that is Pretty much it. Now Twitter is always trying to help you. One thing I'd add is, Twitter's trying to help you find more accounts to follow and more people to follow. So it is kind of monitoring what you're doing, and what you're looking at. What you're re tweeting, in the sense that it is trying to gather information. In order to better help you find accounts to follow and that sort of thing and that's why you see these over here. And also you've got your trends again, so you can see that. So, up here would be notifications. When you find out that someone has followed you that will show up here. If you are mentioned in a tweet that somebody else sends out. That will give you a notification. So, that's another thing to look at. You've got Moments, again, these are things that might be of interest to you. And then you've got Messages. And messages are not things that are public. They're not things that other people are going to see. Well I hope that was helpful. Please give me some feedback based on this demo. If you weren't really familiar with Twitter let me know if you think it would be helpful to you. And if there were questions that I did not address in this video. Please do let me know and I would be happy to answer them, or help you out. All right hope it was
