So thank you for your time in this course. I hope it's proven useful. I've done a couple of MOOCs now and I love it. It forces me to think bigger about my subject. It has been without a doubt the most useful, beneficial, valuable things I've done in my career. So I want to thank you for your participation. I also just wanted to take a few moments here at the conclusion of the course to summarize some of the key themes. This was an intro course, the goal here was to establish a foundation for good speaking. Now, as is obvious by now, I emerge out of the very Western rhetorical tradition. So, I approach speaking with the canons in mind. But they should be applied flexibly. Remember, there's no single perfect form of public speaking. It's always about adapting to the rhetorical situations you find yourself in. Now, the techniques we've practiced for invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery are useful tools, and they can help you in many circumstances, and they provided a map to the course. So we began the course with a broad overview. Laying out all the rhetorical tools that we were going to use, and really trying to understand the medium of speech. And I see these as counter balances. So, rhetoric helps us prepare speeches in a deliberate way. But linguistics reminds us that a lot of good delivery is tuff that we're doing everyday, anyway, conversational speech. Then in week two, we started in on the key point speech. The key point speech served as a way of organizing the course and practicing all the rhetorical canons. So, we worked on inventing and arranging key points in week two. Then in week three we worked on inventing and arranging support and then turned to performing the speech in an organized way. This is tough. You want to be both clear and subtle. Then in week four we got waist deep into delivery. Public speaking apprehension is real and pervasive but you can deal with it. In this intro course I would say my main focus on delivery in week four was be deliberate, don't be distracting. So again, thank you for your time and attention. I hope this class has given you some ideas that you can use. Good speaking is always a journey. Remember good speaking is about developing your skills, judgement, and experience. And hopefully the class lectures, the speech assignments, the speech evaluations, have helped you a little bit in developing your skills, experience and judgement. [MUSIC]
