Hi, everybody. Let's talk about Bootstrap 4. In this class I've been talking about Bootstrap 3. Those are the materials I covered in the slides, and that's where the classes came from. But now that Bootstrap 4 is available does it matter? How will it affect you? Well, just so you know, when Bootstrap 3 came out it completely killed Bootstrap 2.0. There were way too many incompatible changes. So if you wrote your site using Bootstrap 2, and you tried to convert or add Bootstrap 3 elements to it It just didn't work it died. Luckily for us with Bootstrap 4 they worked much harder to make the two compatible. So what kind of changes are going on? To be honest I can be completely sure because they are still in beta. They're still developing it, but I can tell you that Boot strap 4 will be faster. They've switched from a kind of language called Less to one called Sass that's just going to be faster creating the things that you need. They're going to include a new grid tier, so we had our extra small, small, medium, and large. There's going to be something in addition, so it won't kill the other ones. There are going to be new customization options. If you remember when you downloaded Bootstrap 3 there were all these options that you could add for things that you wanted to change. You can expect even more in Bootstrap 4. One other thing I just wanted to mention because I know that we've talked about it a little bit is that it's starting to use more fluid elements or fluid measurements. So it can use rem and em units where before it didn't use them. And hopefully if you've been paying attention through this whole class. If you get involved in a conversation you can nod and say, yeah, rem, em, good stuff, and actually kind of know what you're talking about. And that always feels good when you're hanging out with techie people. So if you're interested in learning more about Bootstrap 4 you can download the new code at this URL. v4-alpha.getbootstrap.com. Whenever they're referring to software in alpha version that means it hasn't been completely tested yet. So it's safe for you to download, but there's probably going to be bugs. The other thing you can do is you can kind of follow the blog as they talk about the different things they're adding or deleting from bootstrap. What is it mean to you though? You spent this time. You're familiar with Bootstrap 3, and that's actually still great. We wanted to learn on something that was tested and we knew things were going to work out. And that is still where most of the templates are. If you go to download a free template it will be built in Bootstrap 3. And so it's really nice to be familiar with those things you see in real life. If you're considering jumping into Bootstrap 4 I think this is a great idea if you really want to be a serious developer. It always helps to be on that cutting edge in web development and really anything techie. So I hope what I helped you understand was that learning bootstrap 3, really useful and you're going to be able to use it for long time. Bootstrap 4 can only make things better, so if it's something you're interested in, go ahead. I myself am excited to see where it goes. [BLANK AUDIO]
