[MUSIC] Hello and welcome back. In this video we're going to discuss an exercise that I would like each one of you to participate and create. It's a self-marketing plan. Now as we think about the marketing strategies that we are discussing in this video, those are theories, concepts, and ideas. Basically a dream. But now we move from dream to vision, and how do you make a vision come to fruition? You have to put pen to paper. You have to write down these things and create a plan and task associate it so that it actually comes to pass. And this course, and this video, and this week, we're going to create a self-marketing plan. Your self-marketing plan has three objectives. Number one, your work. How are you going to display it? Number two, how you going to promote it? What are your promotional activities? And then number three, what are the results? How do we assess it? So let's begin with your work. Now, we've already created and discussed your evidence or artifacts. Many of you have uploaded into your e-portfolio. So, as you go through evidence of your competencies and skills and ability to showcase it at a very high level of proficiency, that's what I want to pull out, because that's what we're going to be working with. So the goal is how do I take these things and showcase myself? How do I use these marketing strategies to tell the world who I am, what I do and why I'm very good at it, and why don't you hire me? So number two, that's after we have created or calculated and brought together our artifacts and evidence, how are we going to promote this? So I need to sit down and begin to write what are some ideas to promote my evidence? Showcase me, whether it's going to be utilizing Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, personal website, a head hunter, staffing agency, these are the things that we're discussing in this course but now, how do I apply these concepts and ideas. So after I have listed what I want to showcase, number two, step two is, how do I promote these ideas? Next is after we have promoted, was it effective or not? We have to determine what are the results, how do we assess it? So I selected what I would like to showcase, that shows an employer why they should choose me. Number two, I'm looking at, how do I want to promote these things? And then number three, after I have promoted them, was it successful, what are the results? Now part of this marketing strategy after we have identified these three objectives and we have identified and put tasks to go along with each objective, you want to include timelines, measurable dates. So in two months by this particular date, for instance April the 15th, I want to have my evidence of my presentation skills showcased on Facebook, for example. I'm going to leave it up for three months and on the next date, or the end date of the three months, I am going to look at my results. Was it effective? Was it not effective? Did it increase my contacts? Did it increase the ability for me to apply to different jobs? Do people contact me? Again, we want to see what strategy is working, versus those that are not. Because we want to begin to optimize the strategies that are working on our behalf. So as you create this marketing plan and you put pen to paper, next is to discuss this with my classmate. We're going to have a discussion as part of this course. And you create, then discuss. Things that you would like to discuss. What went well? What did not go so well? Before I even implement this, I might solicit feedback from my classmates or colleagues. I'm thinking about this, and I want to utilize this particular promotional median, what are your thoughts about it? So I invite you to have a discussion about the whole marketing strategy plan, how I might implement it, and what I might utilize as an assessment tool. Thank you, and I look forward to reading your discussions in this course and in this week.
