[MUSIC] Hello. My name is Rebekah May. And I'd like to welcome you to Search Engine Optimization Fundamentals. The second course in the Coursera SEO specialization, brought to you by UC Davis. [MUSIC] I'm excited to have you joining me on this journey. I've worked in the SEO field now, for nearly a decade. I've worked in the agency setting, in house settings, and as a consultant. Search engine optimization helps to blend together two of my major interests, marketing, and psychology. Have you ever wondered how Google is so attuned to your personal web searches? Or do you have difficulty getting your website to gain a top spot for a particular subject? In this course, we are going to examine search engine algorithms and how they affect organic search results and websites. We are going to build on this knowledge to assess the key elements for creating an effective SEO strategy. Which will include how to select keywords and perform keyword research, consumer psychology and search behavior, and how to conduct on-page SEO analysis to identify opportunities and improve a website's search optimization. I have broken this course into four major modules. But first, we'll examine on-page SEO. On the second, we'll discuss off-page SEO. We'll scratch the surface of technical SEO in the third module. And complete our course with keyword theory and research. Each week, you will view a series of video presentations and screen casts. You will have opportunities to practice your learning and be tested on your knowledge. I'm glad you've decided to take this course. I think you will enjoy it and learn a lot that should help you strive for improving your company's SEO. We have a lot to cover together, so let's dive in and get started. [MUSIC]
