Hello and welcome back. In our previous video, we talked about the ePortfolio as being the excellent way to show evidence of our competency and skills that we possessed to show that we are the best candidate for the job. So we want to continue on that and look at, are you the best candidate for the job? And so part of that now is to have a re-examination. It's kind of like writing your research paper, so you've done all the work. You've put your best foot forward and right before you submit that final paper, you want to reexamine it, you want to have someone else proofread it. You want to go back and check to make sure there's no mistakes, that you've done your word check to make sure everything is spelled correctly. And so we're going to take that same analogy and apply it to this. We've already been able to deduce what competencies is needed for the job. We compared it to someone who's already serving at capacity. We looked at the competencies that we already possess. We implemented a strategic plan to improve or to build upon the competencies that's needed. And now we're ready and we think we're right there. But before we send out our ePortfolio to the world and send out our resume, we want to take another second close critical look. In other words, we want to evaluate it one last time. And so let's go back through some of the same processes and steps that we did before. Number one, let's start with our self-evaluation. We want you to begin to evaluate all of those different things that we previously evaluated before, such as looking at your SWOT analysis. Are you still meeting the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats? Actuality, we should see some of your weaknesses now moving to the strength category. And what you see, you'll be able to identify the opportunities and minimize the threats. Another thing that we want to do is look a second time at our dashboard metric. Initially, we saw things that we were already green and that was a go, then we looked at the yellow to see where we might need some more help to get to green, then we looked at the red where we didn't have anything at all and we need to build upon skills from the beginning. So now when we look at that dashboard, we should see more in the green, then we're ready to go. Maybe a very few in the yellow and perhaps none in the red. We want to also want to look at those competencies more closely to make sure that we can show evidence of these competencies and skills. Next, we also want to look at the resume, get your resume in order, have someone proofread your resume, make sure that you are designing a resume that is very specific with the job and the company for which you are applying. A lot of people have blanket or a general resume. That really does not put your best foot forward, so I reiterate to make sure your resume is curtailed exactly for that job and that company. Also, take another look at your ePortfolio. Make sure you have the best pictures or videos or writing samples, whatever you have deemed necessary to show evidence to your competency. Solicit feedback from your peers. People that might be a colleague, someone that might be in one of your courses, a good friend. Someone that you trust will give you a honest and accurate feedback to what you need to improve on, what you might need to change or what you might need to edit. And once you have received that feedback, incorporate it into your evaluation or your portfolio or whatever document that they have critiqued for you. Lastly, it doesn't hurt to get an expert evaluation. There are people who evaluate resumes or portfolios or you might know someone who's serving as a director for an HR department in an organization and so it does well to get an expert evaluation. Find someone that may be serving in a particular job, as a manager for someone that you might want to work for. And even if you want to go and apply for a job and you did not get your very first job, ask for feedback from that person you're sitting in front of. What could you have done better? What do they see that you need to improve upon to be ready for this particular position? So what we've learned? We've learned that it is key, paramount, very important to have someone proof read our information. And for us to do a self-evaluation right before we put everything for the world to see or before we pass it on to that future employer. Coming up next, we'll be talking about putting it all together and how we're going to present our best foot forward to prove that we are the best candidate for the job.
