This week, we will be talking about the third P in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The third P in the 2030 Agenda is about prosperity. Prosperity focus on different aspects in economy. More specifically, the prosperity is closely related to goal seven to goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable Development Goal seven talks about affordable and clean energy. Energy in today's world is one of the most essential elements in everyday lives for all. It is very difficult, or even impossible in today's world to live without energy sources. However, the lack of clean energy means detrimental effects to the environment. And, therefore, goal seven not only looks at environmental issues on energy, but also looking into efficiency and bringing energy sources to all. Goal eight refers to decent work and economic growth. Within the Millennium Development Goals, the eradication of poverty was the main goals. Agenda 2030 embraced a deed for the eradication of poverty, but through decent work for all. In relation to decent work, goal eight also emphasize the need for economic development. Countries around the world should not depend on support from other countries, but create sustainable economies for the future. Goal nine looks into the details within the economy showing importance of industry, innovation and infrastructure. Without infrastructure, industry and innovation, economic development and job opportunities do not happen. Therefore, sustainable development emphasizes that nations need to pursue infrastructure, do industry and innovative technologies and strategies for the economy. Goal 10 refers to reducing inequalities especially in the economic sector. There are still inequalities in work, labor and the economy, which create unfair opportunities and exploitation. Establishing a free and fair economic system is crucial to building a sustainable society. Goal 11 emphasizes the idea of sustainable cities and communities. As the world continues to urbanize, the need for a more sustainable community has become very important for people living in cities, as well as for rural areas. Building a greener city, sustainable city is crucial to build a better future for our children and the next generation. This week, we'll focus on prosperity and professors will discuss how the international community is progressing in reaching these goals.
