Hi everyone. Welcome to the 11th chapter in our Tencent Cloud's Solutions, Architect Professional course, video solutions. At the end of this chapter, you'll be able to understand the characteristics of live streaming, video-on-demand, VOD, and real-time communication, RTC Services in the video industry. You'll also be able to design live streaming architectures, VOD architectures and RTC architectures, and understand Tencent Cloud's video solutions. In this chapter, we'll cover five sections, overview of the video industry, live streaming solution design, VOD solution design, RTC solution design, and case studies for the video industry. This video will cover the first section, overview of the video industry, subsequent videos will cover the remaining four sections. Let's get started with Section 1, overview of the video industry. In this video, we'll cover an overview of the video industry, the challenges faced by the video industry, and Tencent Cloud's solutions for the video industry. The video industry can be classified into live video broadcast, LVB, video on-demand, VOD, and real-time communication, RTC. A glossary of relevant terms is shown in the following slide for reference. The bitrate is the number of bits that are required in playback in bits per second. Adaptive bitrate streaming involves audio, and video files with various bitrates. A player can dynamically select the most appropriate bitrate for playback based on the current bandwidth. Transcoding changes the codec, resolution, bitrate, and other parameters of the bitstream for playback on different devices in various network environments, other protocols and their descriptions are also listed here. The typical video workflow consists of creation, storage, processing, delivery to the end user, and monetization. Let's go over some of the challenges faced by the video industry. Traditional live streaming platforms incur high costs, possess slow service release, difficult Ops, and poor performance, they also require monitoring to underlying systems, Ops, and development. Tencent Cloud's, Cloud Streaming Services, CSS, serves as the answer to solving many of these challenges. It offers low costs, Ops free operations, comprehensive features, security, and fast release. Additionally, there is no need to pay attention to the underlying systems or Ops, with a lighter focus on development, and a heavier focus on business. Now, let's go over the rise of the VOD solution. Internet users' demand for video streaming, has become only second to social networking and chatting, which has caused audio and video services to become the major source of mobile Internet traffic. The basic capabilities for building audio, and video services are diversified, and difficult to integrate at one time. Also, the traditional solution of CDN, COS, and transcoding has certain limitations, for example, the architecture of the solution for integrating multiple services is complicated, and the costs for customer access are high. Finally, services such as transcoding, AI features, and video recording cannot be provided in the Cloud. The technical requirements for RTC systems include low latency, smoothness, acoustic echo cancellation, interconnection across countries, and regions, and high concurrency. Tencent Cloud's video solutions consists of real-time audio communication solutions, such as Tencent real-time communication, audio and video AI solutions, live broadcasting solutions such as CSS, on-demand solutions, such as VOD, and SDK solutions.
