One of the things that you can do in this course, but it's completely optional, is set up a host for your site, so you can kind of share your work with others. The reason I make it optional is that while there are many ways for us to share our websites, it's still a little iffy out there for me to expect students to go to websites that I myself haven't visited. So this is why it's not required but it is encouraged if you want to share it with your friends and family. So, if you do want to set up a site one of the things you need to do is find a free hosting service, or a paid hosting service. So, in the past I've used something called Byethost. Byethost provides a domain name and hosting that kind of takes care of everything for you. But, it's important to remember, as I go over this example, that free is not necessarily a great thing. One, it's really discouraging that when you sign up for account, it'll actually email your password back to you. This is never secure. So, this is something I only want you to do at the very beginning to kind of get your feet wet. Then, you may want to think about switching to a different free service or some sort of paid service. The other thing that goes on when you use a free service, not just Byethost but most of them, is that there tend to be a lot of pop-up ads. Byethost won't do that to your page, but if somebody clicks or puts in an invalid URL, it's not going to redirect back to your page. Instead, it is going to redirect to some sort of crazy ad or something that has nothing to do with your site. Let's go ahead and take a look at where you can sign up. So when you sign up for free hosting, there's going to be a few pieces of information they're going to want. First, you're going to start off with what you would like your subdomain name to be. Now if you remember, most of domain names tend to be google.com, youmish.edu, wikipidea.org. A subdomain means that they're going to decide on most of the domain but you can have a little bit that you can come up with yourself. So for instance coleen.umish.edu or myfancypage.freehosting.com. So you'll come up with what you want your subdomain name to be. Be warned, that if you pick something very popular it's probably already going to be gone. But I could put in collenvanlent if I wanted to. Now, when you put in your password, please put in something that you don't use for any other account. Because as I mentioned, I don't think they do a great job of keeping your password secure. So I'm just going to put one in here. You'll have to put in your email address. You need to do this because they're going to send back your credentials to you. And then, you can put in your site category, whether it's for business, a hobby, your language, and then you would go ahead and enter in the code. Once you're done, and you click Register. I put in Personal, English, put in the 027E2. When you click Register, you're going to get a nice big screen that's going to tell you all these things about how more than likely your registration is going to go to your spam. So if you use Hotmail, Yahoo, Google, make sure you wait a few minutes and then check your spam and there'll be directions for how to access your account. In our next video, we're going to talk about what you do, once you get that information
