By the end of this project you will have used the Query Design window in LibreOffice Base to construct and run queries that retrieve, sort, filter, and perform calculations on data from a multi-table relational Client database. Results returned from a query can be used to analyze client data to support business decisions. Note: This course works best for learners who are based in the North America region. We’re currently working on providing the same experience in other regions.

Learn step-by-step

In a video that plays in a split-screen with your work area, your instructor will walk you through these steps:

  1. Tour the LibreOffice Base user interface as you become familiar with the tables and relationships that make up the Client database.

  2. Use the LibreOffice Base Query Design View to generate an alphabetized list of client companies with contact information.

  3. Create a list of clients with their mailing addresses by joining three tables and including filtering in a query using the Query Design View.

  4. Use the aggregate functions available in the LibreOffice Base Query Design View to count the number of orders and total the sales amounts for each Client.

  5. Use the field calculation feature in the LibreOffice Base Query Design View to project new sales amounts based on discounts on any sales value over $1,000.
