Financial analysts increasingly use AI tools to accelerate company research, market analysis, and investment decision support. This specialization teaches learners how to combine financial analysis with AI-powered research workflows using Perplexity.
Across four courses, you will cover source discovery and citation tracing, core financial statement analysis and ratio calculations, industry and competitive context, and beginner-level valuation and risk workflows, including DCF modeling, stress testing, and scenario analysis. Practical exercises use real research tasks modeled on entry-level analyst responsibilities.
This specialization is designed for learners preparing for financial analysis, investment research, corporate finance, or business analysis roles. No advanced modeling background is required, but you should be comfortable using spreadsheets and reading business information.
Tools covered include Perplexity, Perplexity Finance, spreadsheet software (Excel/Google Sheets), company filings, and market data sources. Developed in Partnership with Coursera.
Applied Learning Project
Each of the four courses includes an optional project module that produces a portfolio-ready artifact. Projects include: an AI-Assisted Company Research Source Pack (LC1), a Financial Performance Snapshot (LC2), a Company and Market Context Brief (LC3), and a Valuation and Risk Scenario Memo (LC4). Each project asks learners to apply Perplexity-sourced evidence and structured analysis to an authentic analyst workflow gathering and evaluating sources, computing ratios, synthesizing business context, and building a beginner valuation or risk output. Completed projects give learners concrete work samples for interviews and resumes.
