Specialization - 3 course series
This Specialization is for learners wishing to learn Microsoft Excel from beginner level to expert level. The first two courses will teach learners the basics of Excel through the use of dozens of educational screencasts and a series of quizzes and in-application assignments. Finally, in Part 3 (Projects), learners will complete several "real world", somewhat open ended yet guided projects. In the Projects course, special emphasis is placed on dynamic array functions, which are new in Office 365 and have revolutionized the way that worksheet calculations are performed.
Applied Learning Project
In Part 3 (Projects), learners choose three "warm-up" projects (chosen from five potential projects), three intermediate projects (chosen from six potential projects), and three main projects (chosen from five potential projects). Thus, learners have liberty to tailor their experience through choice of projects. Screencasts are provided that show hints and previews for each project.

The time required for this specialization will vary dramatically depending upon the amount of time that learners can devote to it each week. If you can spend 3-5 hours per week on the courses, you should be able to complete the specialization in about 10-12 weeks. The time required to complete the specialization is much less if you're able to spend a significant amount of time each week on the courses.
It is beneficial to have a basic understanding of computers and navigating around computers, but other than that you will learn Excel from "scratch to expert". A basic knowledge of math is helpful, but not a lot of time is spent on mathematical formulas.
Yes, it is recommended that you take the courses in order: Part 1, Part 2, followed by Part 3.
It depends upon university, but most likely not (at least until things change with course credit, etc., which is in the near future!).
Upon completing this specialization, you'll be able to perform a wide variety of techniques in Excel and utilize many functions and tools that are built into Excel. You'll be able to manage large data sets and sort, filter, and search through the data for items of interest. Many learners have received job promotions and/or new careers as a result of completing courses in the specialization.
