About this Specialization
Applied Learning Project
Learners will complete three in-course projects by applying knowledge and skills including the comprehensive understanding of valuation inputs, methodology, scenario planning, and sensitivity, as well as the analysis of market liquidity and investor preferences.
Learners will combine all knowledge, skills, and tools obtained throughout the Specialization with their experience in the area to complete the final Capstone Project in which they will choose a real transaction or investment project, perform its comprehensive analysis and valuation, and prepare a short presentation to be shared with their peers.

Can I just enroll in a single course?
Yes! To get started, click the course card that interests you and enroll. You can enroll and complete the course to earn a shareable certificate, or you can audit it to view the course materials for free. When you subscribe to a course that is part of a Specialization, you’re automatically subscribed to the full Specialization. Visit your learner dashboard to track your progress.
Is financial aid available?
Yes, Coursera provides financial aid to learners who cannot afford the fee. Apply for it by clicking on the Financial Aid link beneath the "Enroll" button on the left. You'll be prompted to complete an application and will be notified if you are approved. You'll need to complete this step for each course in the Specialization, including the Capstone Project. Can I take the course for free?
When you enroll in the course, you get access to all of the courses in the Specialization, and you earn a certificate when you complete the work. If you only want to read and view the course content, you can audit the course for free. If you cannot afford the fee, you can apply for financial aid.
Is this course really 100% online? Do I need to attend any classes in person?
This course is completely online, so there’s no need to show up to a classroom in person. You can access your lectures, readings and assignments anytime and anywhere via the web or your mobile device.
Will I earn university credit for completing the Specialization?
This Specialization doesn't carry university credit, but some universities may choose to accept Specialization Certificates for credit. Check with your institution to learn more.
How long does it take to complete the Specialization?
Any course in the Specialization may be completed within 2-4 weeks.
Therefore, the Specialization (including the Capstone Project) may be comfortably completed in three to four months.
Nothing prevents the more expeditious study process if desired.
What background knowledge is necessary?
The Specialization is designed for those with some experience in the area of finance. Sometimes, we study very advanced issues. But that should not scare off learners with little knowledge of math or economics. The only really important requirements to succeed in learning include logical thinking and the interest in the area.
Indeed, some previous exposure to the most basic financial concepts (profit, cash flow, projects, NPV etc.) helps. By the same token, some background in math would make the progress in the Specialization smoother. But all these ideas are discussed in detail in the Course video lectures and supplementary materials.
Do I need to take the courses in a specific order?
You can take the courses in any order you like.
However, the smoother progress in the Specialzation is ensured by the following recommended order:
1. Capital Markets and Financial Institutions – How to Survive Them
2. Principles of Corporate Finance – A Tale of Value
3. Core Concepts of Accounting – Numbers and People
4. Mergers and Acquisitions – The Relentless Pursuit of Synergy
It is strongly recommended to take the 4th course (M&A) after the first three as it uses a lot of information and tools from them.
Finally, the Capstone Project may be completed only after having successfully completed all four courses.

First of all, you will be well-prepared for faster progress in you career in finance.
You will be able to successfully apply the obtained knowledge, skills and, most of all, understanding to build successful careers in finance, accounting, business planning, strategy, consulting, project management, fin-tech, big data, etc.
