Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education is driving a nationwide transformation in higher education with Coursera. To align with global standards and modern demands, the ministry has fostered a culture of self-learning across universities. Student engagement has been remarkable—80% of learners completed at least 80% of their courses, reflecting strong motivation and persistence. In line with strategic priorities, 172 courses have been localized into the Kazakh language, expanding access and relevance. Learners have earned nearly 400,000 certificates and completed over 2.3 million hours of online learning, demonstrating the scale and impact of the program. With Coursera’s support, Kazakhstan has rapidly scaled this initiative, ensuring that the best faculty and world-class education are accessible to every student in the country.
