Uzbekistan Empowers One Million Learners to Drive Digital Growth with Coursera
The Republic of Uzbekistan, through its Ministry of Digital Technologies, has embarked on a nationwide mission to strengthen digital capabilities and grow its IT export sector to $5 billion. To achieve this ambitious goal, the government partnered with Coursera to deliver world-class digital education to learners across more than 10,000 schools, from major cities to rural areas. Since the partnership began, Uzbekistan has achieved remarkable progress: over 1.5 million people have registered on Coursera, with nearly one million learners completing professional and free education courses. The initiative has also made strong progress toward digital inclusion and gender equality, with women and girls representing half of all participants. This collaboration has already contributed to $1 billion in IT service exports to 90 countries, showcasing how Coursera is helping Uzbekistan build a globally competitive, digitally skilled workforce. Looking ahead, the nation continues to scale its Coursera initiatives to prepare more youth for careers in technology and innovation, fueling the country’s vision of becoming a leading digital hub in Central Asia.
