Bio

Laurence R. Helfer, BA (Yale) 1987, JD (NYU Law) 1992, MPA (Princeton) 1992, is the Harry R. Chadwick, Sr. Professor of Law and co-director of the Center for International and Comparative Law at Duke University Law School. Professor Helfer has coauthored two books and more than sixty scholarly articles on his diverse research interests, which include international human rights and the interdisciplinary analysis of international laws and institutions. His advocacy work on international human rights law includes testifying before the U.N. Human Rights Council, serving as an expert adviser to the Office of the Legal Adviser of U.S. Department of State, and collaborating with NGOs on the submission of amicus briefs to international human rights courts and tribunals.
