Become an instructional designer and create engaging learning programs

Overview

Gain the skills needed to solve real-world challenges on the job and learn to integrate technology into today's learning environments.

Across two immersive courses, you’ll learn how to identify and apply the elements of a systematic design process, the language and terminology pertinent to the design of learning systems, and the major elements of instructional and learning system design models. You’ll also gain experience with models and theories that can be applied to improve technology-enriched and -enabled learning systems. You will complete two hands-on projects specifically designed to support your career advancement. In the first project, you will develop your e-portfolio, and in the second, you will create a customized design plan for an organization based on a case study.

This program features a rotating first course structure. The upcoming cohort will begin with EPOL 472: Instructional and Training System Design.

EPOL 483: Learning Technologies

Overview

In this course, you’ll cover a wide range of technologies used for instructional and administrative purposes to address two important needs of learning and development: Being aware of recent developments in relevant technologies, and effectively selecting and using appropriate technologies to enhance learning and communication.

Significant emphasis is placed on recent developments that involve the use of the computer-based instruction, computer-based testing, distance learning, interactive video, and other instructional technologies that can be applied in education.

EPOL 472: Instructional and Training System Design

Overview

In this dynamic course, you will learn key components of instructional and training system design rooted in various learning and instructional theories behind instructional design. This course will prepare you to work with subject matter experts (SMEs) in selecting, organizing, and developing effective instructional and training content. You will gain a deep understanding of how people learn effectively so that your instructional design efforts will support meaningful and engaging learning experiences for your target audience.
