Adobe Express is a web-based content creation platform, mobile app, and progressive web app (PWA) for your desktop. It contains a suite of tools that help you create unique online content from scratch or give you a head start using one of its thousands of templates.
Adobe Express is full of features for content creation. Some of the powerful and accessible tools in this graphic design software include:
Start creating fast with thousands of templates and integration with Adobe Stock photos. You can start creating as soon as you open the app.
Access over 20,000 fonts in the Adobe Express app.
Many quick actions are available, like resizing photos for social media, turning a video into a GIF, and converting a PDF into the format you need.
Edit, trim, crop, and resize videos into the time length, aspect ratio, and dimensions you need for wherever you post.
Easily remove backgrounds from images to isolate objects and add an enhancement effect to make an object pop out from the background without manually masking it.
Edit your graphics, access your files from anywhere, and integrate other asset managers like Dropbox and Google Photo in Adobe Express.
Access Adobe Firefly’s advanced AI capabilities with tools like generative fill, template generation, translation features, and direct posting to TikTok.
Use Creative Cloud Libraries to share your templates, stock photos, and asset libraries with your collaborators, giving everyone on your team access to the proper branding material.
You can start using Adobe Express with a free account, which includes its basic content creation tools and free generative AI credit. You can sign in with your credentials if you already have an Adobe ID. Otherwise, you can create an Adobe account using your email or another service provider like Google. Once you’re in, you can start creating.
To start exploring templates, navigate the menu by hitting the “create project icon” or using one of the convenient templates on the home screen for a social media, video, photo, document, or print project. Select the kind of project you want to work on, then browse through templates to help you start. You can also create a custom design.
After selecting a template, you can tailor any aspect to fit your needs. For example, if you select a template for a logo, you have a baseline design to start with. From there, you can upload your own images, remove any backgrounds, customize the colors, resize the logo, and even create an animated version.
Now that your media asset is created, you need to export and share it. In Adobe Express, you can select the “download” button to download the asset onto your computer or mobile device to share it manually. Alternatively, you can select the “share” button to create a link for a collaborator to view a draft, share it to your company’s Dropbox or Google Drive, or connect your social media platforms to share your content directly.
With its templates, AI tools, and customization opportunities, Adobe Express has many practical uses for marketing, business, and social media. Some of its use cases include:
Social media content creation: Influencers, marketers, and businesses can create branded posts, Instagram stories, TikToks, and videos. You can also utilize the strategic campaign planning tools to plan your posts and track engagement with your team.
Business marketing materials: Business professionals and marketing teams can use Adobe Express to create images, flyers, presentations, documents, and social media content. You can even share branding templates and resources with others for real-time project collaboration.
Educational resources: Educators and students can create interactive presentations using animation, video, and audio. Teachers can safely introduce their students to generative AI tools with K-12 AI safeguards to help students create posters, flyers, and their own templates.
Personal projects: The free version of Adobe Express allows you to easily create your own personal projects such as cards, flyers, documents, and personal branding content.
To help you start designing graphics with Adobe Express, Adobe created tutorials to guide you in learning the program, including topics such as designing effective graphics, pairing fonts, using branding colors, and using their video tools [1]. Some other tips to design effective graphics in Adobe Express include:
Define your audience: Your visuals should speak to your intended audience. Begin by identifying your target audience, then develop a branding aesthetic that appeals to them.
Fonts: For a professional, identifiable look for your brand, limit your fonts to two to three core fonts. Make your fonts legible to ensure your audience can read them easily.
Develop a color scheme: Creating a color scheme for your brand is key in defining the look and feel of your brand to your audience. It’s recommended to have one light color, one dark color, and one bright color as a start.
Visual hierarchy: By creating a visual hierarchy in your design, you establish each element in it as having a certain level of importance in the design. Think through how each element, font, shape, and color communicates the message, and order them using that hierarchy of importance.

There is a free model of Adobe Express, offering photo editing (including background removal), video editing, templates, and limited AI functionality. More features like brand kits, generative AI features, video background removal, and expanded storage are only available in the paid version.
Both Adobe Express and Canva offer design solutions, but there are differences between the programs. Both offer asset templates, photo and video editing, and storage. Canva facilitates easy team collaboration and has a user-friendly interface, while Adobe integrates with Photoshop and Illustrator, and has PDF editing and multi-account scheduling capabilities.
Adobe Express is a limited version of the full Adobe suite. It has a more streamlined content library than some tools and there may be a learning curve for beginner designers. Deciding whether Adobe Express is right for you will depend on your needs and experience level.
