In this 2-hour long tutorial, you will learn how to create Virtual Machines using the Azure Portal. We will do this by walking through the process of creating a free trial account on Azure, logging in and getting familiar with the Azure Portal. We will create a Resource Group in preparation for creating the virtual Machine and then step through the process of selecting our virtual machine image and configuring the range of options that are available when creating a virtual machine including selecting Disk types and storage, We will create a virtual network and configure networking and connectivity for our virtual machine. We will also configure monitoring and management and apply Tags to the resources that we create. We will then test remote connectivity and management of the virtual machine by using Windows Remote Desktop. This is an introductory project on creating Virtual machines in Azure using the Azure Portal. Some background knowledge in Virtualization or Cloud computing is beneficial but not required to complete this project Familiarity with any Web Browser and navigating Windows Desktop is sufficient to carry out the Tasks in the Project. To further your knowledge, consider enrolling in the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals AZ-900 Exam Prep Specialization. This Specialization consists of four courses that will act as a bedrock of fundamental knowledge to prepare you for the AZ-900 certification exam and for a career in the cloud. The content of this program is tightly aligned to the AZ-900 exam objective domains. Upon completion of the Specialization, you will be provided with a unique discount voucher* code, created by, and redeemable only via Pearson VUE. The code can be used by you when registering for Exam AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and entitles you to a 50% discount off the price of the exam. *Limited discount vouchers are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. In a video that plays in a split-screen with your work area, your instructor will walk you through these steps:

  1. Create a free trial account in Microsoft Azure and log into Azure using your new subscription.

  2. Navigate the Microsoft Azure Portal and create a Resource Group in preparation for creating a new Virtual Machine

  3. Select from a virtual machine that runs Linux or Windows and complete the basic set of information required to create a new virtual machine.

  4. Choose from and differentiate between disk storage options for your OS disk and additional data disks for use in your virtual machine

  5. Design network connectivity for your virtual machine by and creating your own virtual network and configuring the virtual machine network interface card.

  6. Configure monitoring and management options for your virtual machine and implement Tags for resource management

  7. Review the virtual machine configuration and deploy and start up your first Virtual Machine.

  8. View and reconfigure settings on your new virtual machine.

  9. Connect to your Virtual Machine from your local system using Windows Remote Desktop

  10. Shut down and deallocate your virtual machine to minimize costs associated with running Virtual Machines.
