What are project management tools?

Project management tools are the software used to plan, visualize, and track work. This course keeps the tools deliberately accessible: you build Work Breakdown Structure diagrams in Lucidchart, then Gantt charts and a project tracker in Google Sheets. Both have free tiers, so nothing you create here disappears behind a paywall when the course ends.

Do I need experience to take this course?

No prior project management experience is required. You need basic computer literacy and a willingness to strengthen your organization, communication, and delivery skills. The course suits students, aspiring project managers, and professionals who already coordinate work informally and now want a structured method for managing projects.

What will I build in this course?

Real deliverables. Across three modules you produce SMART objectives, a three level Work Breakdown Structure in Lucidchart, a Gantt chart and project tracker in Google Sheets, and a complete project plan in the final sixty minute project.

Which project management course should I take first?

Start with fundamentals: scope, objectives, work breakdown, scheduling, and stakeholder communication. Certification prep assumes that grounding plus years of documented experience. This project management course builds the foundation in seven hours, and you leave with real deliverables rather than theory.

Does this course include a certificate?

Yes. Completing it earns a shareable certificate you can add to your LinkedIn profile. It is a course completion certificate rather than a professional credential such as PMP or CAPM, which are administered by PMI and carry separate eligibility requirements.

Project management is the practice of planning, organizing, and delivering a defined piece of work within agreed limits of time, scope, and cost. It differs from day to day operations because a project has a start, an end, and a specific deliverable. Module 1 of this course opens on that distinction, then covers the triple constraint of time, scope, and cost, and how stakeholder expectations and risk shape every plan.

A project manager defines what a project will deliver, breaks that work into manageable pieces, builds a realistic schedule, assigns responsibility, tracks progress against a baseline, and keeps stakeholders informed when things change. This course teaches each of those directly: SMART objectives and Work Breakdown Structures in Module 2, then scheduling, effort estimation, RACI, and baseline tracking in Module 3.

The foundations of project management are scope, schedule, and cost, held together by stakeholder communication and risk management. Together, scope, time, and cost form the triple constraint, meaning a change to one affects the other two. The practical skills built on top are writing clear objectives, breaking work down, sequencing tasks, and tracking progress. This course covers each across three modules and seven hours.

The five stages of project management most commonly cited are Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing. In practice the stages overlap rather than running in strict order. This project management course concentrates on the first two, taking you from defining what a project is through a complete project plan with SMART objectives, a Work Breakdown Structure, a schedule, and a tracker.
