Nutrition needs change across different stages of life, levels of activity, and health contexts—and understanding those differences can help turn nutrition science into more informed decisions.
In this Specialization, you’ll apply nutrition concepts to real-world topics including energy balance, weight management, fitness, college health, pregnancy, childhood, aging, global food systems, food safety, and metabolism.
You’ll explore how nutrition supports health and performance, how needs shift across the lifespan, and how food access, sustainability, and safety shape nutrition at a broader level.
Additionally, you’ll examine how the body breaks down and transforms nutrients for energy, connecting everyday nutrition choices with the metabolic processes happening inside the body.
Applied Learning Project
Throughout the Specialization, you’ll apply nutrition concepts to practical health and decision-making scenarios. You’ll evaluate weight-management strategies, consider nutrition and hydration needs for physical activity, and explore nutrition-related challenges during the college years.
You’ll apply nutrition principles to pregnancy, infant feeding, childhood, and aging; examine food security, sustainability, and food safety; and connect nutrient use with energy metabolism. These activities help you move from understanding nutrition concepts to applying them across different populations, settings, and health needs.
