Love it. Some of these courses make it easy to answer questions, this one does my head in and ensures that l know the basics fully before l can answer the questions (a challenge). I'm 72 yrs old and enjoying every bit of it.

Good: Organization is good, lectures are interesting and writing SQL quizzes are nice. Bad: Referenced books are rather poorly organized and can be basically ignored, many quiz question in the first week basically just test your English. Third week is like 75% of overall effort. Fourth week is just final assignment. Ugly: Mistakes in Quizzes/Assessments I would recommend taking this course
Feedback on assessments should have more explanations rather than just Correct/Incorrect. I believe we learn better if there are explanations to incorrect questions so we can avoid making such mistakes in future assessments. Otherwise, content is interesting.
I liked the instructor. Much of the subject matter was interesting. But there was too much of a focus on relational algebra, which is frankly useless. Few in academia and no one in the private sector would ever use it, even as a conceptual framework.
The video materials were very helpful, but the two textbooks were problematic: one was a basic, open source textbook that gave poorly-written definitions of terms with little to no useful context or applications; the second was a very dense relational algebra textbook that was difficult to parse, with little to no context provided by the video assignments. Several of the quiz questions were coded incorrectly (as in: the correct answer was marked 'incorrect' in the quiz). When this was pointed out, Coursera reps acknowledged the mistake but said nothing could be done to correct my quiz. The final exam included material that was either not covered in class or was barely mentioned in one of the textbook readings. It was formatted completely differently from all other quizzes and practice assignments, including the fact that there was no sample database to query when answering the SQL questions. I would not recommend this course to others.
