When you set up a Shopify store, you'll need to pick a name. This name will appear on every page of your personal Shopify website and help customers know they're shopping from the right place. It might be the same as or different from your legal business name; ideally, it's the name you'll keep throughout your Shopify selling career.
However, there may come a time when you want to change your Shopify store name. Perhaps you have started rebranding or a new marketing plan. Maybe you acquired another store, you're expanding your current store, or you just feel like your current name isn't suitable. Either way, you can make changes, but always ensure it's the best choice for you and your business. Once you're sure, you can use this guide to learn how to change your Shopify store name.
Here's a quick summary of the steps you'll take to change the name of your Shopify store:
Go to your admin page and then Settings > General
Click Store contact details
Click on your Store name
In the in the Store name field, enter your new store name and click Save.
Let's take a closer look at each step:
As with almost everything you do at Shopify, start by ensuring you're logged in and on your admin page. Look for the Settings button and click it. If you're on the Shopify app for iPhone or Android rather than the website, you can go to Store > Settings and click on General.
Once you've entered the General menu, click on the Store contact details option. This option is available both on the app and in your web browser.
Under Store contact details, tap on your store name.
Once you've opted to edit your store name, you'll see a space where your store name is listed. You can delete it and replace it with your new name. If you want to change your legal business name, you can do this in the Business details section. Remember, your store name and legal business name are not always the same.
Remember that changing your store name doesn't change your domain name, which is the name that appears in your URL before .myshopify.com. Changing your domain name is available to certain merchants and can be completed just once. If you are not one of these merchants or want to change your .myshopify.com domain name more than once, you can consider purchasing a custom domain that you can use with your Shopify store.
Also, if you use Shopify Payments, you must change the name on your Shopify Payments account. To do that, contact Shopify customer support.
