This course prepares learners for the CompTIA CySA+ CS0-004 certification, a vendor-neutral credential that validates the analytical skills cybersecurity professionals need to detect threats, manage vulnerabilities, and respond to incidents in real-world environments.
Led by cybersecurity instructor Tommy Gober, the course is structured as an efficient, exam-focused preparation experience. Each episode is concise and purposeful, with explicit callouts to key exam concepts, terminology, and scenarios likely to appear on the CS0-004 exam. The course is designed for learners who already hold CompTIA Security+ (or have equivalent knowledge) and want to advance to analyst-level credentials. It does not rebuild foundational IT knowledge — it builds on it. The course assumes prior familiarity with core security and IT fundamentals, including Security+‑level concepts, networking basics, Windows and Linux operation, encryption principles, identity and access management, and comfort using the Linux command line. Students should be prepared to move quickly into analyst‑level tooling and hands‑on demonstrations without introductory walkthroughs. Across four focused modules, learners work through the complete CySA+ domain framework: security operations fundamentals (logging, infrastructure types, IAM, data protection), AI and automation in the SOC, indicators of attack, threat intelligence, the analyst tool ecosystem (SIEM, packet analysis, malware analysis, vulnerability scanners), vulnerability scanning methods, governance frameworks, CVSS scoring, vulnerability response, and the full incident response lifecycle from preparation through post-incident reporting. Each module is built around the official CS0-004 exam objectives and includes chapter quizzes aligned to specific objectives. A 40-question final assessment draws from all four certification domains; Security Operations, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response and Management, and Reporting and Communication. Enabling learners to benchmark their readiness before sitting the exam.
