There are 3 modules in this course

This module provides a comprehensive understanding of NOx and SOx emission generation mechanisms and the technologies used for their reduction in thermal power plants. It covers NOx formation, combustion control techniques, primary emission reduction measures, Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), and ammonia handling systems associated with SCR. The module also explains Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) systems, wet limestone-based FGD technology, major FGD components, and limestone and gypsum handling systems used for effective sulfur oxide emission control.

What's included

18 videos1 reading1 assignment

This module provides an overview of electrical systems associated with boiler operation, including auxiliary power distribution, switchgear systems, motors, drives, and electrical safety aspects. It covers high-tension (HT) and low-tension (LT) switchgears, HT and LT motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), DC motors and starter panels, and earthing systems. The module also introduces dust control systems and electrostatic precipitators (ESP), including their working principles, high-voltage systems, major electrical components, and mechanical safety features.

What's included

18 videos1 assignment

This module introduces the fundamentals of instrumentation and control systems used in boiler and thermal power plant operations. It covers measuring instruments, instrument installation concepts, analyzers, final control elements, and detailed measurement techniques for pressure, level, flow, and temperature. The module also explains instrumentation diagrams, boiler monitoring equipment, communication protocols such as HART and Foundation Fieldbus, burner control systems, boiler control logic, and Distributed Control System (DCS) architecture.
