How can managers create conversations that surface important information, improve judgment, and build alignment?
In Communicating for Impact, you’ll examine how communication patterns influence team functioning and what managers can learn about their organizations. You’ll explore why people may not speak up, how hierarchy and psychological safety affect communication, and how conversational roles and inquiry can make dialogue more productive. You’ll then extend these practices to institutional communication and stakeholder relationships, considering how managers can communicate across groups with different priorities while preserving strategic authenticity and core purpose. By the end of the course, you’ll be better prepared to assess communication patterns, use inquiry and illustration, evaluate conditions for speaking up, and design communication strategies that balance candor, empathy, authority, and stakeholder needs.
