In this module, we explore how to merge real-world issues with academic outcomes for deeper school experiences for learners. The ways in which industries are evolving in a fast-paced world have called for a shift in academic outcomes. Manifested by skills, knowledge, and abilities that learners encounter in their learning experiences, these outcomes can be met by incorporating real-world issues into the curriculum.

It also helps educators develop ways to assess learning as they adopt authentic learning strategies by crafting assessment plans to help learners be more successful in authentic learning contexts. In this module, educators will develop ways to assess learning as they adopt authentic learning strategies. Assessment, as a crucial part of teaching, can impact a learner's development. Research by Paul Black and Dylan William (1998) shows that consistent formative assessment in the classroom can develop a learner's achievement. Educators will practice crafting an assessment plan to help learners be more successful in an authentic learning context through varied assessment approaches.
