This module provides a comprehensive understanding of steam turbine erection activities carried out in the turbine-generator (TG) island during power plant construction. It covers the sequence of turbine erection, including foundation centering, setting of leveling plates and wedges, installation of turbine seating and pedestal plates, erection of HP, IP, and LP turbine casings, rotor installation and provisional centering, radial clearance checks, installation of inner and outer turbine components, final alignment, coupling installation, turning gear installation, and final assembly procedures. The module also includes a practical case study to understand real-world turbine erection practices, quality requirements, and alignment procedures.

It covers the typical power plant project cycle, commissioning philosophy, steam turbine commissioning sequence, pre-startup checks, automatic turbine run-up systems (ATRS), synchronization, initial loading, load raising, frequency control, shutdown procedures, and emergency operating conditions including plant interlocks, blackouts, turbine trips, and house-load operation.
