Unreal Engine: Design & Control Game Materials for Beginners
Build practical Unreal Engine material design skills by learning to create, customize, and control materials for games and interactive applications. Designed for developers and technical artists, this course takes you from material fundamentals to advanced runtime control using the Material Editor, material instances, and Blueprints.
You’ll create node-based materials using colors, textures, and vector inputs, apply texture maps with UV tiling, and use masks and vector operations to control blending and coordinates. You’ll experiment with color, lighting, and emissive effects to create flexible visual results.
As you progress, you’ll build parameterized material instances that allow efficient control of material properties without shader recompilation. You’ll organize parameters into structured groups and integrate materials with Blueprints to create dynamic material instances and modify color, opacity, emissiveness, and other properties during gameplay.
What makes this course distinctive is its structured progression from material creation to interactive runtime control. By the end, you’ll be able to build organized materials, create layered visual effects, configure reusable material instances, and implement responsive material behavior using Blueprints.
