A fascinating, sometimes beautiful, sometimes disturbing summary of ocean life, resources, and threats from pollution and overfishing.
This course is about life in the oceans, from the sunlit surface to the inky depths, from microscopic phytoplankton to the great blue whale. The ocean is among the world’s most inhospitable environments for scientific research, which is why we know as much about the surface of the moon as we do the bottom of the sea. This course uncovers the evolutionary history of marine organisms, adaptations to life in water, the behavior and functional morphology of sea animals, interactions between species, and current threats. Throughout the course, we meet scientists who are developing ingenious solutions for overcoming challenges and are making remarkable discoveries. By evaluating these cases and analyzing real scientific data, we come to understand some of the ways that life has adapted to diverse ocean habitats, how it interacts with the physical environment and with other organisms, and why it matters to us.

Such an interesting course, I completed it in five days which shows how intriguing and captivating it is. Very informative and just so awesome. So worth it.

The course was excellent and well structured. Only issue is that charging $49 for a certificate is really unprofessional. This is not a university degree program.

Wonderful course! Truly gave me a foundational knowledge of many topics pertinent to the field of Marine Biology. Beyond that, it was also enjoyable and engaging.
JJ
I really enjoyed this course. I think it was a good blend between essays and videos, and provided an in-depth dive into various fields in Marine Biology, and overall was very informative.
CD
Great course, very informative, had a variety of topics so it wasn't all the same. All recourses were great quality, overall an amazing course to take. Just got my overall grade of 96.68%!!

I think this was a very informative course. I learned a lot of new things that i wasen't fully aware of and i am now a lot more interested in learning more.

I did this course in High School and learned a lot from it. If you're interested in going into marine Bio I would definitely recommend taking this!
NK
This is a great course I throughly enjoyed it. It is informative and covers many basic concepts and wide range of important topics.
JH
A brief but very educational course. I'm very glad I took it. I hope I get more courses on this topic here though. Hopefully credited ones.
AK
The subject I studied has been invaluable. To be honest, I have learned more about marine ecosystems than I ever have before.
HJ
A nice course to get the spectrum of marine biology. I would recommend it especially for people like myself who don't have a real foundation in the subject.

Content is good but way too much reading, I don't need a course for that, I can buy a book ! Also, 10 min for each reading is too short if you are not familiar with the topic, count at least 20 mins each time - which considerably adds to the actual training time
Good introduction course for those who just start studying a marine biology or for those who wants to expand their basic education in environmental sciences.
The course is a wonderful introduction to marine biology! It's packed full of information and provides plenty of resources for further study. :)
A fascinating, sometimes beautiful, sometimes disturbing summary of ocean life, resources, and threats from pollution and overfishing.
The course content was comprehensive, well-structured, and engaging. The instructors skillfully covered a wide range of topics, including marine ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation, and the impact of human activities on the oceans. The lectures were informative, filled with fascinating facts and captivating visuals, which made it easy to stay engaged and absorb the wealth of knowledge being shared. The instructors' passion for marine biology was evident, and their enthusiasm was contagious, sparking a genuine interest and curiosity among the participants.
This course is incredibly good. It gave me a lot of knowledge, allowed me to see marine biology in a way I had never seen it before. I was struck by the details about the study of bioluminescence and biofluorescence by mr. Sparks, the incredible data about larvaceans that Kakani Katija received. I especially love the awe with which Jeremy Goldbogen and David Cade study whales. And of course other scientists, they're all just amazing! I love this course, and anybody else, who's interested in marine biology gonna love it too.
It was a holistic and comprehensive course, that delved into some of the most fascinating concepts related to marine biology, along with the frontline problems faced by conservation biologists and others in quantifying the damage human beings have contributed to marine species and how exactly we can go about solving them. All in all, pretty holistic and detailed, and captivating enough to keep us interested. Enjoyed the course, my many thanks to the curators and scientists who contributed to the course.
I learned so much! Thank you for this course! I love that general principles are nicely described here, such as the chapter on water from a physical perspective, and at the same time there are plenty of specific studies, like the research on the shells of the Copelata group. The references for learning more about each chapter are also great. I really enjoyed learning new things about such a fantastic topic! If a continuation of the course comes out, I'll be on it right away!
fell in love completely with this course from module 1 :) I gained so much knowledge about the world under waters and I really liked that the course also talked about how human & natural activities are threatening the marine life, as well as highlighting the conservation steps that have been taken to mitigate those threats. it really has been eye opening for me. i wish I could relive the experience of starting this course from the beginning again.
This course is very interesting and informative that has bring me to a broader understanding on life in the sea, its beautiful nature and the marine life existing through the videos. As a student, I am relieved to have this opportunity to get a glimpse of the marine world and to understand the basic need for urgent management for a sustaining marine environment for today and the future.
Amazing course that provides fundamental knowledge on Marine Biology. The course is able to relate knowledge to real life situations and it also helps to raise awareness regarding the damage being done to marine ecosystems. The course is very inspiring and motivates learners to understand more about the marine environment, take on related fields, and be part of conservation efforts.
A great start into the world of marine biology. Within a week I’ve found myself using information taught in this course to better understand our world. Videos were particularly engaging, and it almost felt like an exceptionally informative documentary that provides unbiased sources and expertise to give me the most up to date knowledge on the subjects.
This course was awesome! Each module went deep into the topics without getting boring - I actually looked forward to the lessons. The best part? Even with all the details, it was super engaging and fun to learn from start to finish. If you want to level up your knowledge in this area, definitely check it out - totally worth it!
I absolutely loved this course! The information was very interesting and easy to understand and follow. If you love marine animals, ecology and the ocean and want to broaden your knowledge on a variety of topics this is a GREAT introductory course! 1000% recommend it and THANK YOU very much to everyone involved!!
This course was interesting There was a lot of reading which was sometimes hard for me to focus on (because of my ADHD not the course haha) but overall I really enjoyed it. I think the last week was my favorite because we discussed corals and coral bleaching as well as sharks :)
I really liked this course because I could see real-life ways that scientists have used to research and solve some of our ocean's problems. It's a nice way to explore more of my interest because such courses are not provided at my university and I love to gain more info.
The course has provided me with great insights on the thought process and the understanding of marine biology along with the latest approaches & concerns in regards to ocean life. I've always wanted to get to know marine biology and this has been a wonderful experience
I thank each and everyone who contributed to this great work and who helped me immensely expand my knowledge about the ocean in marine biology and also what steps I can take to contribute towards the conservation and protection of marine life forms thanks once again
I loved the complete and varied course, the case studies, the videos with interviews with professionals in the field, and the new technologies. I highly recommend it, especially for an introduction to topics that permeate oceanography (my course).
