This course is easy enough to pass quickly if you have an above average math mind. I say this and everything that follows as someone with a Bachelor's/Master's in Mathematics. Luckily, I took another intro to accounting course which most of this course went over again. That prior knowledge made this much easier for me. However, I found the material to be surface level at best. The course is structured to ensure anyone can pass. But, as a teacher myself, I can say that it is not the best course for someone to truly comprehend and take the material to apply to future accounting situations, in my opinion. I plan to use this course simply as a certificate to complement the others I already have or plan to obtain. I wouldn't recommend this course for someone who was truly a beginner to accounting. If you are, I would either look for something else, or be prepared to take supplemental courses as well.

There are many questions on the assessments that aren't covered in the course materials, which was frustrating. The course materials did provide decent surface level information, definitions, and explanations, but didn't offer much in depth. I do have a better understanding of accrual accounting, the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement, and how they relate to one another. I would have liked more practice in some of the assessments rather than questions unrelated to the topics covered in the course materials. Was I missing something?

I have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting but it is almost 20 years old. The Course is streamlined. I love that. I managed to finished working 2 full days on it with a day off in between. And when I did get an answer wrong, I was mostly able to understand what I did wrong and better understand the concept.

Accounting is fun, Accounting is sexy !

I'm sure using knowledge from Accounting help me understand financial and management accounting, and how it affects planning, decision-making and budget control. May be examining accounting standards practices can help me understand the existing practice of accounting standards that help to develop effective standard practices to ensure a sound corporate governance system that leads to a healthy investment environment too. I thank the Coursera team, Professor Garen Markarian and Université de Lausanne for providing a good place to work, I am grateful for the good fortune to learn at the university, to communicate with the great minds, I'm not afraid of this word, grand experts in Accounting.

Amazing course and Professor, accounting is really sexy and also hard to get I would say. I enjoyed the way the course was taught, especially with the different level of difficulty. It allows me to stay grounded and to understand that acing the easy exams do not mean that I have become an Accountant. Doing the medium and CFA exams showed me that I still have so much to learn especially concerning the Cash Flow Statement. It was probably the most difficult Financial statement for me to grasp. But I am fired up, and intend to continue reading and reviewing the materials till I pass the advanced exams. Accounting 2, here I come!

I can now talk to external accountants with more confidence and I finally understand well what the numbers on the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement mean.
