Simple et didactique, ce cours permet d’apprendre et de directement mettre en œuvre les commandes apprises grâce au Lab virtuel CODIO.Vraiment un très bon cours.

Explore Unix system basics without installing anything! This course is designed for learners with no technical experience, providing a solid foundation of Unix basics. Learners will gain hands-on practice on an Ubuntu system that can be easily transferred to other Unix-based operating systems. The modules in this course cover what characterizes Unix-based operating systems, navigating, searching, and editing files and directories using the command line. To allow for a truly hands-on, self-paced learning experience, this course is video-free. Assignments contain short explanations with images and runnable examples with suggested edits to explore examples further, building a deeper understanding by doing. You'll benefit from instant feedback from a variety of assessment items along the way, gently progressing from quick understanding checks (multiple choice, fill in the blank, and un-scrambling code blocks) to small, approachable exercises that take minutes instead of hours.

Excellent and concise explanation of the topic. Codio guided labs are really useful and help grasp the practical side of concepts.

The interactive practicals, and especially the tests, made me better understand the linux commands than watching videos and taking multiple choice tests.

A lot of information, and is easy to follow. Also, the labs give space to practice and learn more.

I am surprised that this course is billed as "beginner friendly". Very little explanation of the structure of the OS and its commands is given. Lessons consist of the student being prompted to read the manual for a certain command, which is typically long, overwhelming, and filled with technical terms that are mostly incomprehensible to a beginner. The lesson will then ask you to write a few commands based on the information in the manual, which is either doable or not, depending on the quality of that particular manual. The lesson then prompts you to try out a few commands, often with little explanation of the syntax. I also noticed some errors and inconsistencies in the lesson material. I gave up near the end of Week 1 of 3 because I found this course so frustrating. (And I am a computational scientist and know how to code in several programming languages already, so I am comfortable with this type of work.)
This needs some to test it before it has a lot of bugs, and issues in the challenges/quizzes. There is also not help in challenges and/or how to guide to ease when not knowing how to do something. I will not be continuing this course nor specialization.

it's a course for absolute beginners, isn't? I would expect more explanations. I found myself Googling to complete the week 1 problems.
Course has many issues with external platform that have been unresolved for years... neither Coursera or Codio is doing anything about it.
This course is not for beginners.

I was fascinated by the design of this course because codio is something that I haven't seen before.
Very interesting, with executable examples and easy to follow. A good way to start with unix
