The mobile user requires the same accessibility currently enjoyed by wired users. Whether at work, at home, on the road, locally, or internationally, there is a need to connect. Beginning with a single access point (AP) replacing a cable on the floor, Wi-Fi networks have become a true extension of the local-area network (LAN). Sometimes these LANs spread over entire warehouses or campuses, providing simultaneous network connectivity to thousands of laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Many issues can arise in a wireless network due to coverage and the inability to connect to the wireless LAN (WLAN). Understanding how wireless technology works in various WLAN environments will help you to configure, design, and operate wireless networks.
