Dr. Siyang Tao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Ball State University. He earned his Ph.D. in statistics with a concentration in actuarial science/financial mathematics from the University of Iowa. Prior to this, he received a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Iowa in 2016 and a Master’s degree in Probability and Random Models from Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris VI) in 2013. Dr. Tao also holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics from the University of Picardie Jules Verne and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, awarded in 2010. He joined Ball State University in the fall of 2020. At Ball State, Dr. Tao primarily teaches upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses in actuarial science and statistics.
