Dr. Jinah Jang received her PhD at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in Korea, and trained as postdoctoral fellow in POSTECH and Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine at University of Washington. She has joined the POSTECH in 2017 and now a Mueunjae Chair Professor in the Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Life Science, Medical Science and Engineering and School of Interdisciplinary Bioscience and Bioengineering. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals in the area of bioprinting and tissue engineering. She is also recognized as World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University from 2020 to 2025. Her h-index and citations are 59 and more than 16,900, respectively (by Google Scholar). She currently serves as the Associate Editor of Bio-Design and Manufacturing, the editorial board member including Trends in Biotechnology, Biofabrication, APL Bioengineering, and Virtual and Physical Prototyping. She also serves as Executive board of directors (Secretary General) for International Society for Biofabrication. Her outstanding research achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2026 The National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK) Young Engineer Award (honoring excellence under 40 across all levels of engineering), the 2025 Korean Academy of Science and Technology Young Scientist Award (The Korean Presidential and Highest Award for Engineers under 40), the 2025 Biomaterials Award for Young Investigator (Elsevier), and the 2022 Sandra L. Bouckley Outstanding Young Engineer Award from SME. Dr. Jang’s research focuses on engineering functional human tissues by integrating high-performance stem cells with advanced 3D bioprinting technologies and printable biomaterials.
