Let's start by exploring Artificial Intelligence—no, it's not just talking robots or sci-fi movie plots! You'll learn key concepts, understand important AI terminology, and trace how AI developed into the powerful technology now transforming tourism, hospitality, and events. Why start here? Because understanding the basics sets you up perfectly for the application topics coming next. Think of it as the AI orientation session—you've got to know your tools before you can build something impressive. We’ll use interactive lessons, engaging videos, and practical hands-on activities (chatbots included) to keep things lively. Throughout this module, you'll tackle questions like: "How does AI really enhance hospitality and travel?" and "Could robots become your next coworkers?" These discussions will encourage critical thinking and friendly debate, preparing you for real-world applications.

What's included

1 video1 assignment

In this module, we're unlocking the black box of how machines actually “learn.” Whether it’s a chatbot handling guest questions, a pricing engine adjusting room rates, or an AI recommending the best dinner spot, there’s a learning model behind the scenes driving those decisions. In this module, you’ll explore the three foundational types of machine learning—supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning—and how they show up across the tourism, hospitality, and event industries. We’ll also introduce Natural Language Processing (NLP), the branch of AI that allows machines to understand and generate human language. By the end of the module, you’ll not only recognize the mechanics behind these technologies—you’ll start thinking critically about their benefits, limitations, and ethical implications in real-world guest experiences.

In this module, you will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming hospitality and tourism across marketing, transportation, and hospitality operations. You will learn how AI supports customer segmentation, personalized marketing, predictive analytics, and data-driven campaigns; how Mobility as a Service uses real-time data, optimization, and personalization to create more seamless travel experiences; and how hospitality organizations use AI to improve guest service, staffing, maintenance, energy management, and operational efficiency. The module also emphasizes practical decision-making, including how to evaluate costs, benefits, guest impact, implementation challenges, and ethical considerations when introducing AI solutions.
