There are 3 modules in this course

This module provides a comprehensive understanding of the overall boiler plant layout, design philosophy, and arrangement of major equipment in thermal power plants. It covers the layout of ground-mounted equipment, mill maintenance areas, feeder and tripper floors, firing systems, critical piping routes, soot blower arrangements, and the flow path from FD/PA fans to the chimney. The module also explains customer specifications, basic inputs required for boiler design, heat duty and efficiency calculations, combustion calculations, coal pulverizer selection, furnace selection, heating surface selection (superheater, reheater, and economizer), and practical considerations related to boiler footprint, structural planning, equipment arrangement, ducting, piping, coal routing, and platform layout.

What's included

24 videos1 reading1 assignment

This module provides detailed knowledge of boiler pressure components, their construction, functions, and supporting arrangements used in different types of boilers. It covers pressure part arrangements of stoker-fired, fluidized bed combustion, circulating fluidized bed combustion, and pulverized coal-fired boilers. The module explains the construction and working principles of economizers, steam drums, water separators, furnace water walls, superheaters, reheaters, desuperheaters, headers, manifolds, and buckstays. It also covers pressure part supporting systems, types of boiler supports, boiler materials and metallurgy, applicable codes and standards, insulation, and refractory systems.
