The "GIS Applications Across Industries" course provided a clear understanding of how GIS supports data analysis, visualization, and decision-making across fields like public health, business, emergency management, and environmental planning. It highlighted the versatility of GIS in solving real-world challenges and promoting sustainable development. The course met my expectations, offering practical examples that demonstrated its relevance across industries. In the future, I’d like to explore advanced GIS topics, such as integrating GIS with AI or its applications in smart cities and renewable energy. Overall, it was an insightful and valuable learning experience.

I appreciate the content of the course, and I do feel I learned a bit. That said, I found the course in general very frustrating. It was nice to get a tour of some real-world GIS applications, but there wasn't much to sink my teeth into. Often in the videos and assignments, there wasn't much preamble. There was a lot of "lets open this up and kinda sorta click around". I would have liked to get a clear goal, and maybe a few hints, then left to figure things out for myself (and refer back to the videos if I got lost). The last several assignments offered very little value. One was: export a PDF of a map that was created in one of the video lectures (something we learned how to do in the intro course). Another was simply: copy a feature class and update the symbology. It felt very phoned-in, especially compared to the assignments in earlier courses. If we're going to do an assignment, actually give us something to do. At this point in the specialization, we already should know quite a bit about ArcGIS. Give us something to do with our knowledge! We don't need as much hand-holding.

Overall these courses were interesting. I do feel like I learned a bit and am more comfortable using ArcGIS. I will say though that I was not super impressed with the structure of this specialization. I felt that many times the instructor would skim over topics and not really clarify or provide context. I would then have to answer quiz questions related to those. I also was not impressed with structure of the assignments and all the grammatical errors. Finally, I had a hard time following one of the instructors. They seemed uncomfortable and didn't really explain things well.

Not very good. Assignments are lazy with all data provided and halfway processed. How is this supposed to prepare me to do real world GIS work? One of the assignments was completely broken and the data could not be used. How do I retrieve the data myself? I don't know because there is no metadata or any information at all as to where to find sources etc. Quizzes are full of errors. There is no peer reviewed assignment, so there is no opportunity to test knowledge. A waste of time that feels like it was put together as an afterthought.
