There are 2 modules in this course

This course introduces the need for secure coding and the tools used. In the first module, we'll discuss why knowledge of secure coding techniques is so necessary for modern development and introduce the deliberately vulnerable applications that will be used to demonstrate the impact of different vulnerabilities. We then move on to another aspect of secure coding in Module 2, in which we introduce the principle of least privilege and its importance in secure coding. This module suggests how to implement applications in a way that minimizes the permissions needed.

We start with a discussion of the secure coding landscape and why knowledge of secure coding techniques is so necessary for modern development. We then introduce the deliberately vulnerable applications that will be used to demonstrate the impact of different vulnerabilities.

This module introduces the principle of least privilege and its importance in secure coding. Least privilege is not so much a vulnerability as a vulnerability multiplier. Any error that allows an attacker to gain control of a program only grows worse when that application is running with high-level permissions. This course suggests how to implement applications in a way that minimizes the permissions needed.
